Fun in the Morning

Here is Max all ready for school earlier this week. Usually, he's a bundle of energy and a super happy guy in the morning.

This particular morning I actually managed to get up in enough time to go for a small walk before taking Max to school. You can see his little wheels of mischief just turning, turning, turning here.

Birds are a constant source of interest and amusement. He loves to sing to the birds and you can often hear him singing to the birds and saying, "tweet, teet, teet" as he's riding around in his buggy, swinging or walking around. Here he is showing me the birds that are flying above our neighbor's house.

Max absolutely loves to be outside. There are so many more interesting things to do out there! Sometimes it's a challenge to get him a) in the car or b) in the house. This was one of those days but thankfully I had a little extra time. There's a little catch me if you can moment going on here.

I'm hoping to get a bunch of posts up this weekend but if I don't, I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

SIT

This is what happened when I said "Sit please." this morning. Looks like they both listened for a change! Ha!

It's funny because Max is beginning to realize that the dog will do what you say - sometimes. Right now the only thing he tells her to do is, "Go." Usually he wants her to go outside or go on her bed but sometimes none of us know where he wants her to go. Havers, for her part, either ignores him or looks at him with her head cocked awaiting further directions. Funny funny.

If I Don't Tell You Now, I'll forget.

I keep forgetting to leave a record of so many of Max's firsts. They just get away from me. There are so many of them, after all. Anyhow, I so looked forward to the day that Max would start blowing kisses. Well, that day came and I went and I forgot to chronicle it. That's what happens. You get so busy with pick-ups and drop-offs and ear infections and crazy dog escapes that you just forget to write things down on the date they happen. Not so with this one.

Well, ok, so I don't know the exact day...but that's not the important part. Within the last week Max has started making kissing noises a.k.a. the pucker when he blows a kiss and even sometimes when he kisses you. He also starting meowing on Monday. This may not sound like a milestone but we've been working on this for months. It's pretty cute and actually more of a mew than a meow.

I'm sort of working on not too much sleep - if you couldn't tell. Have a good night everyone.

Yard Drama

This is what I found on our door when I got home from work yesterday. It's a Cut Yer Darn Grass Citation with a big heart from Michael Brown with the City of Frederick. Nice duct tape on the door. Looks like our neighbot finked on us for having "too high" of grass.

This is what Max thinks of our citation.

Hoover wanted to check out what all the commotion was about.

She and Max are pretty much in agreement about the citation.

Enough about the citation. Here's just a cute one of our Max. He's doing his "Milk Please".

Max dressed himself today. Tree Hugger shirt and "socks" on his arms. Those are a pair of baby legs leg warmers (Flash Dance fashion will never truly die.) and Max has suddenly become obsessed with them over the last two days. "Socks" was the first word he said upon waking today. Little nut.

My 100th Post - Max's 1st Overseas Call

Evening all. I can't believe I've actually posted 100 notes on this blog. It's amazing that I got beyond 25.

It seems that I'm going pictureless for a couple days. I've got no photos to upload but I do have stories to share and rather than stage re-enactment photos for each and everyone while waiting to post, I decided to go ahead and post sans photos then update later.

Yesterday, Sunday May 31, 2009, Max had his first overseas phone call. His pops is off glavanting around the world for work and the two of them had one of those AT&T moments where they just had to reach out and touch someone. The phone call was actually Max's idea. He had listend to Dan say hi the day before, smiled, grabbed the phone and promptly hung up on him.

We were just hanging out yesterday morning when he grabbed my phone from the hall table, opened it up and handed it to me while saying, "Daddy?". It was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen - even in my current cynical existance. I called Dan immediately. I got voice mail so I left a message. Dan called us back within 5 minutes and Max was so happy to hear his voice. He smiled, blew kisses and said hi. He really didn't know what to do while Dan was talking to him but he clearly loved knowing Dan was there. I suggested the only no fail, ongoing interactive conversation that I can have with Max any time, any where. It starts with, "What sound does an elephant make?" Max and Dan went through his whole zoo and then Max said, "Byeye", blew a kiss and off he went. Sunday sweetness.
