Warning: These pictures are from the way back machine. April 2009 to be exact. I meant to post them but it just didn't happen.
So, this is in the first 10 times that Max has watched TV. He watched some on-demand animal shows with my mom one day when he was one sick with her but other than that he really hasn't been exposed to TV or DVDs, etc. Pretty much Elmo is like crack. Max loves him. Has loved him from the first moment he saw him on a t-shirt, in fact. As you can see, he is pretty much mesmerized.
We pulled up this episode of Sesame Street on PBS on demand expecting no drama at all. Little did we know that this episode would feature balls - Max's favorite toy in the whole wide world. He is drawn to the glowing box like a moth to flame but he doesn't fully get it yet. (Yay! I hope it's not a big part of his life for a long time to come.) The down-side to not getting TV is that he thought Elmo was throwing him the ball and then he couldn't catch it.
He was so sad and upset when the ball did not come to him. He kept looking at me and saying, "Ball? Ball? MElmo. Ball?" Poor little guy. Of course, he didn't want the ball I gave him either. However, once they stopped throwing the ball and moved on to other ball activities, he calmed down and enjoyed himself. The only picture I got of that was the back of his head.
