A Boy and His Dog
Max thinks Hoover is the best thing ever. She can make him laugh just by walking down the hall and jingling her little tag. His eyes light up when he hears it and he starts looking for her with so much excitement. He loves it when she comes in first thing in the morning with a quiet little whine which is quickly replaced by excited grunts as she noses her way along the top of the bed. He laughs and squeals and rushes fast as he can to shoot across the bed, slide down the side and run after her. He climbs right up on her ottoman.
And run she does, especially now that he's started a hitting phase, which is made all the worse when he runs off with the wooden spoon! But no matter where she goes...
...he finds her. She is infinitely patient with him and for that we are grateful. As you can see from the photos below, he does not grant her much space and is always up in her business. No matter what he does, she is patient and sweet and ready to give him many kisses.
For his part, Max is pretty good with her as well - aside from the recent hitting thing. He feeds her from his chair, looks for her under the table while he eats or when she's not out and about. When he hasn't seen her for a while, he points to the door and window to be picked up for a peek outside. When he sees her, he points and laughs. He manages to stay steady on his feet when she is running around super-excited. Watching him avoid or endure her energetic tail wags is a pretty hilarious site. He stands still, takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and squenches up his face. Trying to get a picture of that as well but she's quick!
Just yesterday (March 2) he started giving her hugs. It is the cutest thing. He walks up to her, opens his arms wide, lays his head on her, then his whole body and squeezes.
They are going to be inseparable in another year or two - unless she sees a squirrel.
